On the other two rinks Kirkby led by one shot on one rink and were down by five on the other. With three ends to go Wigginton were looking good for a share of the points while leading on two of the three rinks. Then came the fightback. Bob Sinclair, Reg Richmond and Nigel Harrison were losing 14 - 7 after the 15th end and proceeded to pull off an unlikely 16 - 15 win scoring 9 shots against 1 on the last three ends. In the final 3 ends the game was turned completely on its head as Kirkby completed a dramatic turnaround and scored 10 shots to Pickering’s 7 to tie the aggregate at 46 - 46.
