WELCOME TO KIRKBYMOORSIDE BOWLING  CLUB

Thank you for visiting our website. Whether you are just browsing, interested in knowing about our club or this wonderful game of bowls please do get in touch and we can assure you of a warm welcome.

Kirkbymoorside Bowling Club is situated in the heart of the beautiful North York Moors National Park and is just off the A170. The club was established in 1977 and has one of the best playing surfaces in the county. We take our responsibilities seriously and are fully committed to the safeguarding of all members in our club, old and new. We have our own fully qualified Bowls Coach who is available to introduce new members to the game as well as aiding existing members to improve their game. 

We hope you will soon like to join us and take up bowling and we look forward to greeting you personally. Even if you don't have any ambitions to play bowls, spectators are always warmly welcomed.

Our bowling Green is open every Tuesday afternoon during the season for Turn-up-&-Play bowling.

  • Come and play bowls (1.45 to 3.30pm, weather permitting!])... All you need are some flat soled shoes or trainers. Sessions are free for club members or £3 per person for non-members.

NEW FLOODLIGHTS AT KIRKBYMOORSIDE BOWLING CLUB

 

KIRKBYMOORSIDE BOWLING CLUB HELD THEIR ANNUAL CLUB MEMBERSFLOODLIT COMPETITION ON TUES 9TH SEPT. UNDER THEIR NEW FLOODLIGHTS.

THE NEW LIGHTS ,INSTALLED LAST WEEK WITH THE AID OF A GRANT GIVEN BY THE KIRKBYMOORSIDE TOWN COUNCIL AND FOR WHO THE CLUB GIVE THEIR GRATEFUL THANKS, WERE SWITCHED ON BY JOHN WARD, A FOUNDER MEMBER OF THE CLUB, FORMED IN 1977, WHO ALTHOUGH IS NO LONGER AN ACTIVEBOWLER, STILL DOES VOLUNTARY WORK DOWN AT THE CLUB EVEN AT HIS ADVANCED AGE.

PREVIOUSLY THE LIGHTS WERE ONLY USED A COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE YEAR, BUT THE CLUB PROPOSES TO EXTEND THEIR USE BY FORMING AN OPEN FLOODLIT LEAGUE TO RUN IN AUGUST NEXT YEAR. THIS WILL BE IN ADDITION TO THE CLUB’S OPEN FLOODLIT TOURNAMENT RUN ANNUALLY IN SEPTEMBER.THIS YEARS FLOODLIT IS TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY 14TH SEPT WHERE 24 TEAMS FROM RYEDALE, YORK, MIDDLRSBROUGH AND SCARBOROUGH WILL CONTEST FOR THE TROPHY.

 

THE BOWLING CLUB HAS HAD AN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL SEASON IN BECOMING CHAMPIONS OF THE 2 LOCAL LEAGUES, THE HOVINGHAM LEAGUE (4TH SUCCESSIVE YEAR) AND THE BATAGAS LEAGUE, IN ADDITION THEY WON THE HOVINGHAM LEAGUE CUP THEWALTHAM CUP AND THE BATAGAS LEAGUES CUP THE FRED HUSBAND TROPHY. THE FIRST TIME ANY CLUB HAS WON ALL 4 IN  ONE SEASON.

 

DESPITE THEIR SUCCESS THE CLUB ARE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR NEW TALENT

WE ARE PARTICULARY INTERESTED IN ATTRACTING JUNIOR MEMBERS AS THEY ARE OUR FUTURE IN SURVIVING AS A CLUB AND TO THIS END WE WILL BE CONTACTING THE LOCAL SCHOOLS AND YOUTH GROUPS TO SEE IF WE CAN GENERATE SOME INTEREST
