OUR STORY...
1977... Income tax slashed to 33%... Car workers at British Leyland go on strike... Manchester United beat Liverpool in the FA Cup... Freddie Laker launches Britain's first budget airline with £59 one way fares to New York... Queen release "We are the Champions"... AND Kirkbymoorside Bowling Club is established.
Situated on the edge of the beautiful North York Moors National Park, we are recognised for having one of the best playing surfaces in the county. We are Community Amateur Sports Club, which means our purpose is to provide bowling facilities and to encourage people to take part. Proud of our 50 year history, we want to encourage bowlers of all ages and abilities from our local community. We have our own fully qualified Bowls England Coach who is available to introduce new members to the game and to aid existing members to improve their game.
We hope you will join with us and take up bowling. And even if you don't have any ambitions to play bowls, spectators are always warmly welcomed, as are visitors who just want to sit and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of our bowling green.

WINNING WAYS...
We have been very successful in recent seasons in becoming champions of the Hovingham League (4th successive year) and the BATAGAS League; runners up in the Ryedale Veterans League, and winners of the Waltham Cup and Fred Husband Trophies.
We have invested heavily to further improve our bowling green surface, and also renewed our floodlights for evening competitions, through wonderful support from Kirkbymoorside Town Council. Whilst it is great to be a winning club, our future lies in new players and in particular, younger players being encouraged into the sport and this is a focus for us going forward.
Our club is not just a sports venue, we want it to be a part of the local community and a place where residents can visit and enjoy the open space. As well as developing our bowling offering, we are looking at ways to potentially expand the use of our clubhouse and bowling green to support wider community activities and initiatives. For the first time ever we hope to explore the potential of developing a scheme for local GPs to prescribe social bowling to patients that might benefit from gentle exercise and companionship. We also hope to be able to encourage interest from local schools and groups to assess their interest in running bowls taster sessions and junior bowls competitions... So all-in-all it looks like a busy season ahead!
